Consumer Confidence Steady Despite Inflation Concerns

Consumer attitudes were virtually unchanged in July.  According to the Conference Board, the Consumer Confidence Index remains at the highest level since February 2020, yet inflation expectations also remain concerningly high.  Consumers continue to expect that prices will rise at the fastest pace in a decade, increasing the risk of inflationary psychology taking hold in the economy.
