Leading economic indicators show strength

The Leading Economic Index (LEI) from the Conference Board improved once again in July, taking the Index to another record high.  The LEI showed broad strength, as all ten of the Index’s leading economic components were either positive or unchanged last month.  This bodes well for the U.S. economic outlook, yet the Conference Board acknowledged that both the COVID-19 Delta variant and inflation fears could be headwinds in the near-term.
